So, here's the advice:-ġ) Don't go 64-bit, there are still far too many reliability / compatibility / stability problems with either UAD's software, or the UAD-1 hardware or Cubase and any combination thereof under 64-bit Windows.Ģ) Go 64-bit to take advantage of the memory addressing (I run Spectrasonics Omnisphere/Trilian and NI's Kontakt amongst MANY other CPU-hungry VSTi's) and use JBridge into any 32-bit only VST plug-ins. So, I'm about to upgrade to a Win7 Quad-core (Gigabyte mobo-based) system and am being given differing, apparently equally valid advice from seasoned professionals about the best way to accommodate these 2 UAD-1 cards (I really cannot afford to upgrade the UAD cards as well as upgrade the DAW OR be without them). It's finally running out of steam on almost everything new I work on. I currently have 2 x UAD-1 cards in a 32-bit WinXP SP3 system (Asus P4C800-E Deluxe mobo, 4GB, multiple SATA hard-drives) running Cubase 5 (into PCI-connected RME Hammerfall/ADAT-connected Behringer ADA8000 OR Firewire-connected M-Audio FW410 OR USB-connected Kore-1 A-D-A). So, first off, my apologies if I've overlooked anything elsewhere. but I can't seem to find anything concrete or definitive which makes me feel any better about spending lots of my hard-earned cash on a new system. I know there are bits and pieces all over the forum about this kinda thing.
